Agglayer CDK Erigon: The Stack Powering Enterprise-ready ZK Blockchains

Build a performant, secure chain with a native gas token and low-cost interoperability

tl;dr:

  • Agglayer CDK Erigon enables developers to launch tailored zero-knowledge blockchains using the high-performance Erigon execution client
  • Proven in production: +1B transactions across chains built with CDK Erigon and 99.95% uptime
  • Fast: baseline of 150 million gas per second, and 750 Mgas/s bursts—equivalent to and exceeding Base Chain, but without optimistic delay
  • Built for adoption: Ideal for fintech, enterprises, and Web2 payments platforms in need of custom execution environments, native gas tokens, and powerful ZK security
  • Designed in conjunction with Gateway: Gateway are leaders in blockchain infra, bringing CDK Erigon into production; they work projects to launch bespoke chains
  • Interop by default, without the fees: Native Agglayer connection, with no delays or additional fees for cross-chain interop and Ethereum withdrawal, unlike optimistic clusters (OP Stack’s Superchain, Arbitrum’s Orbit)

Agglayer is setting out to unify all of Web3. Liquidity is fragmented. User experience is bad. Ecosystems lock in users and developers, making it difficult for capital to flow efficiently. It’s like the early internet, wild and without a unifying standard.

Crypto doesn’t need to be like this.

Agglayer CDK enables enterprises to launch interoperable and bespoke blockchains, suited to any use case.

As a multistack toolkit, enterprises get to index on the modular components required for their own execution environment. Right now, Agglayer CDK supports two modes, with support for more stacks coming soon

  • Agglayer CDK Erigon
  • Agglayer CDK OP Stack

Read on to learn how Agglayer CDK Erigon, built in conjunction with Gateway, to power a dozen chains with over 1B transactions.

Launch a high-performance chain with a custom native gas token

Agglayer CDK Erigon is a complete re-architecture of the node infrastructure behind the original CDK solution. Erigon is already in production today, powering multiple live rollups like OKX’s X Layer, Haust Network, Lumia, Wilder World, & Okto, among others

Speed to rival OP Stack but with all the safety and fast finality of ZK technology:

  • Deploy custom gas tokens designed specifically for custom execution environments, offering maximum flexibility and value alignment
  • Build on the high-performance Erigon Ethereum client, with a modular, microservices-based architecture
  • Solve for performance, with optimistic-levels of speed but ZK-levels of security
  • Reliability and superior developer experience, all while maintaining alignment with Ethereum standards

This node stack has been optimized to serve as both the sequencer and the RPC layer for zkEVM rollups.

It decouples major components like execution, proof generation, and data availability, allowing each to scale independently and recover gracefully from errors. CDK Erigon is designed to work with standard Ethereum tooling, reducing onboarding friction for existing dev teams.

Agglayer CDK Erigon allows you to launch a fully sovereign blockchain, complete with custom native gas tokens.

With Agglayer, chains retain full control over economics, governance, and infrastructure. No Law of Chains, no extractive fees for interop

For enterprise use cases, this opens up real possibilities. Whether you’re building a decentralized exchange that needs low latency and high throughput, a fintech network that requires consistent uptime and deterministic costs, or a real-world asset (RWA) platform that processes large data volumes, CDK Erigon is designed to support you at scale.

Performance benchmarks back this up.

In testnet environments, CDK Erigon exceeds 8,000 transactions per second. In live, production environments, it peaks at 5,500 TPS and processes up to 30k RPC requests per second. Even more impressively, you can get started on infrastructure as low-cost as $500 per month, dramatically lowering the barrier to entry for launching a high-performance chain.

The result? Enterprises can now build chains that scale like cloud-native apps, but with the sovereignty and cryptographic guarantees of a ZK-powered rollup.

Enterprise-grade by design, features that matter

The upgraded node stack provides +240x faster sync times and uses 10x less disk space than its predecessor. Erigon supports mock provers, allowing teams to start with a lightweight proof model in early-stage environments, and then scale to full execution proofs in production without overhauling infrastructure.

Its elastic block times adapt to network conditions: speeding up during high demand to maintain low latency, and slowing down during idle periods to conserve cost. The prover is stateless, meaning it doesn’t need to persist in its internal state. Run multiple proof systems in parallel or scale proving infrastructure horizontally.

There’s also rollback support, which lets operators re-submit L1 batches without compromising user data or state integrity.

All of this is delivered in a modular architecture that’s easier to maintain, easier to observe, and more resilient under pressure—exactly what enterprise teams expect from mission-critical infrastructure.

Cross-chain interoperability through Agglayer

Every CDK Erigon chain is natively unified with every chain on Agglayer.

No-tax interoperability and cross-chain liquidity are built-in from day one.

The Agglayer is Polygon Labs’ answer to fragmentation: an infrastructure layer that connects chains through shared messaging, liquidity, and security primitives. A chain built with Erigon plugs directly into this network using two key mechanisms:

  • the pessimistic proof, which ensures that no chain can extract more than it has deposited into Agglayer
  • a unified bridge, which allows native fungibility across chain

These dual components create a new level of trustless interaction between chains, including sub-10 second L2-to-L2 transactions. For enterprise applications that require instant confirmation, composability across domains, or shared user flows, this is a game-changer.

Just as importantly, Agglayer doesn’t require chains to give up sovereignty. Keep your gas token. Control your sequencer. But still gain access to the liquidity and reach of the broader ecosystem.

Already in Production: Who’s Using CDK Erigon

Several more projects are already being built with CDK Erigon today — spanning DePIN, RWA, and payments. These are real chains solving real problems, using Erigon to deliver production-ready performance and reliability.

The Road Ahead: CDK Erigon’s Evolving Roadmap

While CDK Erigon is already robust, the roadmap ahead is equally ambitious.

Upcoming improvements include a modular prover SDK for teams that want to bring their own proof systems, deeper integrations with observability tools for better DevEx, and continued performance tuning to push the boundaries of what’s possible with rollup infrastructure.

As Gateway and the broader CDK ecosystem continue to evolve, Erigon will remain a cornerstone for enterprise-grade rollups: modular, verifiable, and aggressively scalable.
